What to do when things don’t go as planned?

When I was much younger, I had this diary where I wrote what I wanted in a few years’ time, work, my goals, even down to the kind of person I would want to marry (I specifically wrote down that I wanted to marry an Igbo man and live in the US; And no, I didn’t marry an Igbo manπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, God gave me His perfect will and I’m loving it.) I’m sure some of you reading this did the same.

Some of the things I wrote came true (which were in line with God’s will for me), while others did not. Some were too funny, some were unrealistic, but I wrote them down anyway. Writing what you desire God to do for you is great, you can always look back and appreciate Him for the things He has done. However, when you aren’t seeing what you’ve prayed for, you’ve been waiting, praying, and you sometimes break down and cry, you’ve done all you think you can, and yet what you’ve prayed for hasn’t come to reality.

What do you do then?

God gets you. He hears you. He is listening to you. Some people might ask, if God is listening why hasn’t He answered? Do you know what God’s will is for you right now, or His plan? His plans for you are perfect (can you believe it?) The bible says His ways aren’t our ways. God has answered you (HOW and WHEN He chooses to answer are in His hands).

In addition, here are some practical ways.

Constantly confess the word of God.

Speaking the word of God over a particular situation works; it really saw me through a seemingly difficult period in my life. Doing this can help you too. Just speak the word over the situation daily (emphasis on daily, even when you don’t feel like it).

Have Faith.

God has done it if your request is according to His will. Keep saying to yourself, I believe you have done it. And when your faith is weak, go back to the word of God. (Have a word or specific words that you can cling to.) Faith without works is dead. Begin to work out your faith by doing things that are related to your result. Act like you’ve received it.

Give thanks and rejoice.

With thanksgiving, let your request be known to God. Most times, what I do is to play an uplifting song and dance. I might not feel like it, I might shed tears while doing it, but I will dance and dance and an overwhelming joy begins to well up inside of me. I usually feel better and filled at the end. Give thanks always, for this is the will of God for you(1 Thessalonian 5:18)

Enjoy the Now.

Don’t let the devil steal your joy. Love God, love yourself, love others, be kind, be happy as you await your miracle.
